Search for B meson decays
I currently work in particle physics research, analyzing data from the BaBar experiment to study rare B-meson decays involving baryons — specifically the channel B⁺ → Λc⁺ Λ⁰, which offers a window into fundamental questions about matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe. My work involves processing large volumes of simulated and real detector data using Python (awkward-array, parquet) to reconstruct particle decay chains, optimize selection criteria that separate genuine signal events from background noise, and validate particle identification algorithms. Beyond the technical pipeline, I've investigated subtle physics effects — like asymmetries between particles and their antiparticles — that connect directly to open questions in cosmology about why the universe is made of matter rather than equal parts matter and antimatter. It's a blend of statistical rigor, careful debugging, and genuine curiosity about the universe's most basic asymmetries.
